More Information (Heartland FM is not responsible for external websites)
Situated on the West Coast of Scotland, Plockton School of Traditional Music (or to give it its proper name, Sgoil Chiùil na Gàidhealtachd), is the only Centre of Excellence dedicated to Scottish Traditional Music. Students there receive an in-depth experience in traditional music, and are tutored by top class traditional musicians such as fiddler Gordon Gunn, singer Deirdre Graham, pianist Mhairi Hall, and composer/producer Mike Vass.
Students of the centre have performed at such major festivals as Celtic Connections, the Scots Fiddle Festival, Celtic Colours Festival in Cape Breton, and Tartan Week in New York City. Among former pupils are several big names on Scotland’s music scene: Norrie MacIver, lead singer with Skipinnish; Highland piper, accordionist and artist Mairearad Green; and guitarist, songwriter, fiddler and general all-rounder Innes Watson.
2025 marks the 25-year anniversary of Sgoil Chiùil Na Gàidhealtachd. Join us for an inspiring celebration of traditional music in Scotland and its future rising stars, featuring fiddle, pipes, harp, piano, whistles, Gaelic song and more.
Tickets are available from the Strathearn Arts website.
